Call for Papers
RF Alliance Project Idea Solicitation
Funding Opportunities Available for Transitional RF Technologies
The Radio Frequency (RF) Alliance is looking for papers on innovative RF technology ready to be transitioned. Project ideas submitted will be eligible for available transition funding or direct RF Alliance funding. Please see the details below for more information.
The RF Alliance is a non-profit chartered organization whose purpose is to transition radio frequency technology from the research and academia levels to commercial and military use. To submit a technology for potential funding, please email a white paper on the project to info@rfalliance.org by 3 December 2010. There will be additional calls for papers each year, dependent on available funding, and papers not selected for this round will be automatically moved to the next round. There are many levels of funding available, but most projects will be funded from $100K-$500K with some projects funding up to $1M.
White papers should be no more than 5 pages in length and include the following:
- A short synopsis of the technology
- Summary of what has been done
- What makes this "RF Technology" (For the purposes of this call for papers, RF is loosely defined as the electromagnetic spectrum from MHz to THz)
- What makes this new/different/better than existing technology?
- Current TRL (see TRL definition link here)
- Describe the latest design/testing which supports the current TRL
- Summary of proposed project
- Summary of what will be done
- Schedule (start and end date)
- Budget (total dollar amount needed)
- Staff (key personnel)
- Potential End Users (be specific if possible)
- Deliverables
- TRL at the end of the project (see TRL definition link here)
Each white paper will be evaluated by the RF Alliance project selection committee for potential funding. The evaluators will rate the papers based on the following criteria (in order of importance):
- Is the RF technology innovative?
- What is the military utility?
- Is the technology mature enough to be transitioned?
- Is the transition plan feasible?
- What are the benefits of this technology?
- What is the dual-use potential?
- Will other government agencies be interested in this technology?
The project selection committee will contact applicants if additional information is needed. Additional information may include answering a few questions or a detailed proposal.
The papers/ideas will not be shared with any other organizations without permission from the applicant.
